SUGRU – simple product, great branding
SUGRU, is like blue tack, that you stick on brocken stuff to repair it. It’s easy to do and cures in 24 hours leaving a permanent repair.
So why do we like it? The branding is great! The website has nice little hand drawn icons, even the logo is sketched, which perfectly reflects the DIY nature of the product.
The packaging is a seamless reflection of the website branding, with more hand drawn graphics and easy to follow instructions!

Monday mornings can always dampen the already damp Monday (especially with this kind of weather we are having…). But once a while we step out of our office and sit in a cafe for an hour or so.
We sit, looking all creative and refreshed while we ponder on what kind of projects and design challenges we will be facing in the week. (we also like having our drinks reimbursed by the office ;p)
This cafe that we frequently visit has their way with foam art.

Happy weekend.
Joomla VS WordPress
WordPress is a website engine built on the premise that installing it, running it, and publishing basic content with it should be as quick and simple as possible. Joomla is a different animal, it’s for managing and publishing a lot of different content types, in different ways, while looking good doing it.
An easy way to compare fundamental differences is the way in Joomla which creating a navigation structure is easy, once you understand how it works and it doesn’t require knowledge of html. You can set articles to expire after a time, activate dates, authorname, breadcrumbs etc.. Thus, Joomla gives you a lot of power in your hands and that is noticeable in the admin section where there are so many options that you get dizzy the first time you go in. This is CMS functionality as against a blog. Beyond that, you will find that Joomla has a complicated structure and even seasoned web developers have to go through a learning curve before they master the layout system, and that approach is different depending on the layout template you chose.
WordPress is basically a very user friendly blog system but it can be used as a regular site which you can update without any knowledge of html (the same goes for Joomla). You can create pages and posts, and with plugins, you can add a lot of functionality included standard in Joomla, except that all code is web standard. And because WordPress is web standard, Google really loves it. So, from a marketing standpoint, WordPress is hard to resist. You can add membership functionality in WordPress but Joomla will handle membership much better as it is really made for things like that.

Flashy site.. without Flash
The Chenchow Little site is yet another i-Device friendly, non-Flash website addition to our portfolio. The founders Tony Chenchow and Stephanie Little of the multi-award winning architectural and interior design company, came to us seeking to upgrade their existing Flash based website. After analysing the existing site and discussion about their online goals for their business, we came to the conclusion that a non-Flash site was the way to go. Evolves approach meant the site displays photography and text with smooth transitions, whilst reducing load time significantly, being full compatible with on non-Flash supporting hardware (iPhones, iPads, etc), and a has a much higher exposure across search engines.
Now, saying that… we have nothing against Flash. In fact, we have several clients who came to us with projects that can only be done using Flash. Flash is still the optimum tool for creating website animation and is far superior to Javascript, HTML5 and CSS. But we believe that Flash should only be used to enhance user experience and not limit visitors from vital content as the existing ChenChow site was.
You are more than welcome to visit Chenchow Little site and have a look at this flashy, non-Flash site for yourself, here is a link.
